About
BEING HUMAN
Richard Veith began his music journey when he purchased his first 45 RPM — ABBA's Waterloo. His mind was filled with AM radio at a time when every style of music was heard on the popular stations, like WNOE in his native New Orleans.
Coming of age in the early 1980s, MTV and the vibrant bands and electronic new wave music made an indelible mark. Richard absorbed diverse alternative music as a DJ at Tulane's WTUL station. He graduated with a degree in Architecture and eventually settled in New York City, where the 1990s gay dance scene became an obsession. At this time, he was a practiced DJ, mostly making mixes for his friends.
In 1997, Richard met his biological father, who was a gifted musician. This inspired Richard to embark on playing instruments — initially the rhythm guitar and ultimately the drum kit. In the 2010s he joined three other musicians to form the short-lived band Sideways Revolt. From that period onward, Richard was writing songs about his personal experiences and archiving them.
Flash forward to today: Richard lives with his son in suburban Philadelphia. While encouraging his son to learn the drum kit, Richard revived some of his archived songs with the help of DAW, his MIDI keyboard, his studio mic, and production assistance with AI. This led to the EP Dancer From the Dance.
At the end of 2026, under the name Being Human, a full self-titled album of 12 songs coupled with an EP of holiday-themed songs was released. Being Human would like to perform these songs live, if the opportunity manifests. For now, the music streams for all to enjoy.
